Statutory Consultation on proposed changes to Admission Arrangements

Statutory Consultation on proposed changes to the Admissions Arrangements for Cambourne Village College to take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2026–27.

Each year the admission authority for all schools and academies is required to review their admission arrangements. The admission authority must consult on proposed changes to the admission arrangements and conduct a consultation on the policy every 7 years.

The admission authority for Cambourne Village College is The Cam Academy Trust. The Trust has decided to consult on proposed changes to the school’s admission arrangements which would take effect from the beginning of the academic year 2026-2027.

The policy has been updated to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory regulations.

The main changes proposed are that:

The Publish Admission Number (PAN) will be increased to 300 for the Year 7 intake.

The over subscription criteria have been reduced from ten priorities down the seven. The aim of this is to simplify the admission.

This means that the over-subscription criteria in the event that there are more applicants than places available would be applied in the following order:

  1. Looked after children and children who were previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to adoption, a child arrangements order, or special guardianship order, including children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
  2. Children who live in the catchment area as described above, attend named feeder schools and who have a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
  3. Children with a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
  4. Children who attend named feeder schools.
  5. Children who live in the catchment area.
  6. Children of staff employed at Cambourne Village College, in either of the following circumstances:
    • The member of staff has been employed at Cambourne Village College for two or more years at the time at which the application to the school is made, or
    • The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
  7. Children who live outside the catchment area.

The full admissions criteria including changes to catchment are available in the document below:

The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 16 December 2024 until 31 January 2025.
