PB 23.06.23

23rd June 2023

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

This has been a busy time at school!

Year 11

Yesterday, with exams finally over, we celebrated their final day in school with Year 11.  Photos from across their five years at CamVC, bouncy castles, ice-cream, signing of polo-shirts and nominations for future Prime Minister – it was a typical happy Leavers’ Day of both nostalgia and excitement.   We look forward to a final celebration with the Class of 23 at the Year 11 Prom, next Friday.

Cambourne Sixth Form

With the appointment of Ms Rose as Coordinator of Sixth Form and construction work exactly on schedule, we are forging ahead with the planning for September 2024, when our current Year 10 students will be the first to be able to attend our own Cambourne Sixth Form.   Many of these students visited Comberton last week for an introduction to life at a Cam Trust Sixth Form, and our own first Sixth Form Open Evening will take place in early November.   Watch this space!

School Uniform from 1 September

Please see the pages inside the bulletin for information on changes to the rules on school shoes, and details on how to apply for your £10.00 vouchers to be used towards a branded skirt or pair of trousers or shorts.

Strike Days 5 and 7 July.

Teachers who belong to the National Education Union will be taking strike action on the above dates.  We have carefully assessed the impact on teaching and pupil safety from the anticipated action and will be open for Year 10 only:

Wednesday 5 July

Year 10 only to attend school.   Morning : All Year 10 pupils, 8.30- 12.40.

                                                   Afternoon: Only those sitting exams.

Friday 7 July

Year 10 to attend all day for their planned RE Study Day.

New Intake Day for Year 6 pupils is cancelled.

If your child is vulnerable and should not be at home alone on either of these days, please complete this FORM BY Friday 30 June to request a supervised place in school.

The cafeteria will run a limited service on both days.  If your child has free school meals, please complete the same FORM by Friday 30 June to request a packed lunch for collection from 12.40pm.

Vaccinations planned for 5 July have had to be cancelled.  We will let you know when we have a rearranged date.  Please see the attached poster for details of catch-up vaccination sessions in the community over the summer.

Wishing you all a very good weekend,

Claire Coates
