2nd February 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

A couple of notices for you today:

Key Stage 3 Science Lessons

On Thursday afternoons, the Science Department will be running Live Question and Answer sessions from 2.15 to 3 pm for Years 7, 8 and 9 students - there will be one session for each year group. Please encourage your child to come along. Teachers will be going over tricky parts of the lessons for each week, giving students feedback on their work, answering any questions and hopefully having some fun! Links to the sessions will be posted on Show My Homework and in students’ Teams.

Year 9 Options:  GCSE Psychology After-School Option

Students who are thinking of studying psychology can now access a taster lesson for this subject at the following link: https://catrustorg.sharepoint.com/sites/CAMSubjects/PSY/Taster (This link will only work for students and will be available until the end of half term) Students who are considering opting to do GCSE Psychology as an after-school option should work through this lesson and complete the tasks before handing in their completed options form, to ensure that they understand what psychology is and to experience the kinds of work that would be expected in a lesson. Please email Miss Plumb, Head of Psychology, with any questions.

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week

Mr Yeates, our Head of Art, is also our school Social Emotional & Mental Health Coordinator. You may have noticed the new Mental Health area he has initiated this term in the Covid area of the school website, which contains many links to helpful resources and advice. Mr Yeates makes a weekly contribution to the pupils’ assemblies on Wellbeing Wednesdays and this week he has made a short, light-hearted video for the pupils which you may also enjoy – you need to watch to the end! It can be viewed here

Wishing you a pleasant evening and take good care,

Claire Coates
