Parent Bulletin 04.10.2024

4th October 2024

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

With all the rain this week, we are aware of some flooding that happened in the bike sheds that was unfortunately particularly bad at the end of the school day. The drains have now been cleared so please be assured that this should not happen again.

There are a lot of lost property photos in this week’s bulletin, especially coats. Please do remember to name your child’s belongings as we are currently in possession of a large amount of unnamed lost property. If named lost property is handed in to reception, it will be sent to the Year Team offices to be reunited with the pupil. Unnamed lost property is kept in reception for 4 weeks and then is either incorporated into our 2nd hand uniform stock or donated to charity.

Thank you to all the pupils who took part in our Open Evening on Wednesday for current Year 6 Primary School pupils and their families. It was another hugely successful event with a wonderful turnout, but having our pupils on site, giving tours to families, standing up to talk in front of lots of people and even running around to help with refreshments, is always a vital part of the experience and as ever is much appreciated.

We also had our first round of flu vaccinations this week. A link to the NHS Vaccinations page is inside the bulletin and all Years 7-11 parents and carers must complete this consent form, whether consent for the vaccination is given or not. There will be a mop-up day on Friday 18th October for those pupils who did not have a flu jab this week.

Next week, the Taking Up Space group is pleased to announce that they are celebrating Black History Month with a film screening, of The Hate U Give, next Thursday 10th October, 4pm-6:30pm in the Coates Theatre (Performance Hall). This is open to all pupils; the film carries a 12A rating and is based on the popular YA novel by Angie Thomas (which we recommend!). Pupils may wear their own clothes and may bring their own drinks and snacks. We look forward to seeing as many pupils there as possible.

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.

Best wishes

Lynn Mayes

Principal
