Parent Bulletin 06.10.2023

6th October 2023

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

Planning to open an excellent sixth-form provision necessarily means that a significant amount of time needs to be invested in curriculum planning and staff professional development. As you’d imagine, teaching staff are currently spending a significant proportion of the established INSET and meeting time, as well as our own time outside directed working hours, on both of these areas, as we will continue to do throughout the year. However, in order to be able to collaborate on planning, and to secure additional, much-needed time for this work, we intend collapsing a teaching day.

This will take place on Friday 17th November.

On this day, students will not be required to come into school; but we do encourage your children to continue to engage in their studies and catch up on any outstanding work. Also, should you want your child to access meaningful educational resources on this day, we would direct them to the Oak National Academy website: All subjects by key stage - Oak National Academy (thenational.academy)

We recognise that, for some families, this will present a difficulty in terms of finding suitable childcare for younger or more vulnerable children. We will make accommodation in school for any child who needs it. Likewise, we will make arrangements for FSM lunches to be collected as needed. A form will be made available, nearer to the date, for you to request either of these provisions.

We appreciate your support as we prepare to open a sixth form with a truly excellent curriculum.

I hope you all have a lovely sunny weekend.

Best wishes

Lynn Mayes

Principal
