Parent Bulletin 07.06.2024

7th June 2024

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

It’s been a busy first week back for us here! A huge thank you to all parents, carers and pupils who attended the sports awards last night. We had a fantastic turnout, and we were very proud to see so many of our students receiving an award across all the age groups. Our special guest and keynote speaker, Steve Frew, led an inspirational talk during the evening. Steve was a British gymnast who won Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. Competing on the Rings was Steve’s expertise and he talked about the power of sport and how it can unite people and how it has provided him with many life skills including, resilience, commitment, desire, setting goals and focusing in on them. The evening was inspirational, and we do hope that those that were present at the awards night enjoyed it as much as the staff did.

On Monday, technical issues at the National Archives meant that they were not able to broadcast the D Day presentation event to our Year 7s and 8s. If your child did miss out on the event and wants to watch, it is available on You Tube here: Archives Live: D-Day (youtube.com)

Before half term I reminded all parents and carers about our expectations, particularly with regard to uniform and that all pupils are required to be in their full and correct uniform at all times in school. This includes our Year 11s, who must be in their uniform when they are in school and for all of their GCSE exams. If you have a child in Year 11 that also has medication stored at school, please can you contact the College to arrange collection on or after the 20th June. Any medicines not collected by Thursday 18th July will be disposed of.

We are also making it clear to all students that from Monday, we’ll be locking the bike sheds by 8:30am, so all pupils need to be in the school grounds before that time and ready to be in registration for 8:35am. We would appreciate your support in ensuring your child is in school by 8:30am each morning. Late arrivals will continue to be sanctioned and messages sent home.

Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend.
