Parent Bulletin 13.09.2024

13th September 2024

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

Firstly, I’d like to thank you all for continuing to send your children into school in the correct uniform and I’d like to apologise for the delay in your children being offered locker, they will be available from next week to so pupils can store their PE kits and coats.

We are aware there have been some issues with payment at the canteen for some of your children. This matter has been referred higher to Vericool for an answer, but we will ensure that no child will ever go without food during the school day. As a reminder, our systems sync once a day and so if you put money on your child’s account in the morning, it won’t actually become available until the next day. If however, an urgent top up is needed, our reception staff will accept cash from parents and/or pupils and this will appear on your child’s account immediately.

We have also been informed of an incident on Swansley Lane this week. Please can I stress again that parents and carers do not use Swansley Lane for dropping off or picking up your children. The road was not designed for this and with the resident parking on the street, it creates a real danger for our pupils travelling to and from school. Please encourage your children to walk, cycle or scoot to school and if you have to drop them off, please come down Sheepfold Lane to the front of school.

Our new Year 7s continue to do wonderfully well and so their break and lunchtime timing will be slightly changing from next week. Starting Monday (16/09), Year 7 will no longer have early breaktime. Additionally, their early lunchtime will be slightly shortened, starting at 12:30pm. The new timings for ALL year 7s will be:

  • Period 2 end: 10:40 AM
  • Period 4 end: 12:30 PM
  • End of school day: 2:50 PM

This will be for the next two weeks until a further update is sent out.

The College will also be taking part of the Jeans for Genes Day next Friday 20th September, to raise money for children that are affected by genetic conditions. If your child would like to come to school in blue jeans that day, we would be asking for a donation (to be collected during tutor time) but I also need to stress that the normal top-half school uniform will also be expected (the usual polo t-shirt and school jumper). We will not insist on school shoes that day, but please ensure that the footwear your child is wearing is appropriate for a school environment. There will also hopefully be the opportunity to purchase ‘blue themed food items’ to further raise money. More information will hopefully go out next week.

In the meantime, I’m wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Lynn Mayes

Principal
