Parent Bulletin 30.11.2023

30th November 2023

This week's bulletin is available here.

Dear Parents and Carers

Hopefully you are all aware that the school is closed tomorrow (Friday 1st December). This is for a day off in lieu of teaching training worked in ‘twilight’ sessions across the year.

Year 11 mocks exams start on Monday with English Literature in the morning and Business Studies in the afternoon and continuing every day up to and including Thursday 14th December. As a reminder, all pupils will need to arrive at school by 8:35am, with enough time to store their bags into their lockers, so they can register and line up promptly for their first exam. We expect all pupils to attend school every day and they will be in normal lessons if they are not in an exam.

Also, with the end of term approaching, we’re looking forward to our first celebratory concert next week. We’d be delighted if you would join us for any and all of the below:

Wednesday 6th December: Rotary Club Christmas Concert - 7pm at the West Road Concert Hall and featuring our Junior Choir!

Thursday 14th December: 7pm in the Performance Hall – Christmas Concert, with a collection of festive favourites and non-festive classics from Cambourne’s talented instrumentalists and singers!

Monday 18th December: 7pm in the Performance Hall – A Christmas Carol! A Year 7 and Year 8 musical production.

Further information and how to purchase tickets are in the body of the bulletin this week.

On Tuesday 5th December we have our first free public history lecture of the year. This will start at 4pm and is open to everyone. Helen Carr will talk on “Looking Back: Why History Matters Today”. A must for anyone who is interested in History! Again, more information about this can be found in the bulletin.

Today we have also launched our Christmas Appeal for 2023. Every Christmas we ask our staff and families to donate what you can to support our less fortunate families and those on Free School Meals. If you want to make a donation, of any size, you can do this through your ParentPay account: ParentPay - Leading Cashless Payment System for Schools.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Lynn Mayes

Principal
