Update 17.06.2020
17th June 2020
Dear Parents and Carers
Here are today’s updates:
Year 10 Tests: Today parents and carers received a copy of the email that has been sent to their Year 10 child, with the arrangements for collecting and dropping off their test papers. Each Year 10 pupil has been given a 15 minute time slot on Monday 29th June or Tuesday 30th June to come into school to collect their papers. It is really important, to ensure social distancing, that pupils arrive in this time slot. If for any reason they cannot make this time, please email
cam-examsteam@cambournevc.org by Thursday 25th June, so that alternative arrangements can be made.
Year 10 Timetable: Some minor adjustments have been made. Please see the latest version on this link: https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/Year-10
Key Worker School: We are now taking bookings for the last four weeks of term from Monday 22 June. If you require a place for your child, please complete the form below by 6pm this Friday, 19 June.
Race Across the World – Update from Miss Curtis
Even thunder, lightning and the rain are not stopping us! We are smashing the Race Across the World Challenge! Thank you to everyone who is participating. There is still time to log all your distances from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and there is definitely time to head out on a family walk or bike ride this evening. Just avoid the puddles! Keep an eye on Twitter this evening to find out how much further we have gone.
As of Wednesday 3.30pm:
Whole trust: 6403km – We’ve just gone past Tehran, Iran.
Total distance travelled per school
1st: Cambourne: 2609km (Sofia, Bulgaria)
2nd: Comberton: 2019km (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina)
3rd: St Peters: 961km (Würzburg, Germany)
4th: Melbourn: 812km (Frankfurt, Germany)
Average distance per school entry:
1st: Comberton: 10.7km
2nd: St Peters: 7.9km
3rd: Melbourn: 7.4km
4th: Cambourne: 7km
Those watching the results with a keen eye will notice that Comberton have significantly lost their lead. This was due to an extremely exaggerated earlier entry by one of their members. (Shocking!)
Outdoor Swimming: Message from the Local Authority
The fine weather, along with the inevitable enthusiasm to be outside at present, has led to a number of children, often with their families, swimming in local rivers and lakes. Ian Roberts (Cambridgeshire County Council Specialist Adviser for PE & School Sport) has written some guidance for parents that you may like to access here
Take care everyone, and all good wishes,
Claire Coates
