Year Group Closures this Week

6th December 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Unfortunately, we have received notification during the weekend of positive cases amongst the staff. Due to the number of teaching groups affected by staff absence, we are not able to keep all year groups in school simultaneously.

For this reason, we have taken the decision to have one Key Stage 3 year group per day working from home. We will rotate the year groups according both to those most impacted by teacher absence, and to avoid any single year group being affected disproportionately. Staff from the Centre will communicate with parents of children with special educational needs; Year 11 will continue their mock exams as usual. Year 10 will not be working from home due to their recent period of remote learning.

The timetable for pupils to stay at home will be:

Monday 7th

Year 8

Tuesday 8th

Year 7

Wednesday 9th

Year 8

Thursday 10th

Year 9

Friday 11th

Year 9

As a precautionary measure, a very small number of pupils have been asked to self-isolate after having fleeting contact with an affected member of staff.  These families have already been informed.  As ever, should your child or any of your household develop symptoms of coronavirus during this time, please follow the NHS guidance and inform the School using the following link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=1u3qfje_FUCP6Rn7wsAtVZ5anT3Tt8NCpB3-WECuym5URjNBRkNGTVEyTlVNWDRISVMzN0oxVUlKMS4u

Work will be set on Show My Homework for easy access, as in the last lockdown. We will also monitor student attendance through logging into Show My Homework. Work will be available from 9am each day. In cases where students are requested to turn in their assignment on Teams, they must do so.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

Do

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • wash your hands as soon as you get home
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
  • wear a mask when in public places
  • maintain a 2 metre distance from others wherever possible
