Duke of Edinburgh

“Not all learning happens in the classroom. Young people need experiences outside the classroom to become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is available to young people year 9 and above and is the world’s leading youth achievement award. It equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements. Since its launch over 60 years ago, the Award has inspired millions of young people to transform their lives. Through non formal education, the Award can play a critical role in a young person’s personal development and is achievable by any eligible young people who wants to take up the challenge.”

The Award has had huge success at Comberton and Melbourn Village Colleges over many years and that success continued here at Cambourne last year with a large number of pupils enrolling and benefiting from the excellent opportunity the Award has to offer.

Well done to Bronze Award pupils from 2019/21 for completing 767 hours of voluntary service!

There is a lot of information that we would like to share with parents and pupils before they decide to enrol: what it is, why you should do it, what it involves, how to enrol, what it costs, and the details about the expedition section. When your child starts year 9, a launch meeting is held to inform you on what the DofE means, what it entails and how to enrol your child.

In this section of our website, you will find various forms and documents which will help you and your child throughout the process. Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.

If you would like further information about the Award please see the national DofE website: www.dofe.org

Once a pupil is enrolled, they will be given access to the eDofE where they will be able to track their progress on their Volunteering, Skills and Physical sections | www.edofe.org

Dear Students,

Please find a short video presentation HERE, outlining how you go about working towards completing your Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. The presentation will talk about the requirements for each of the sections (Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition), how you login and create your eDofE account, as well as how you go about adding evidence and submitting your assessors report for each of your sections.

I hope that you find the video useful and that it answers any questions that you may have had. The links of the presentation can be found below, and any further useful documents and resources can be found along the left-hand side of this page. If you do have any further questions then please do not hesitate to contact me, my contact details are above.

Good luck with starting your activities for your sections!

“Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and all the teachers/adults who helped make the D of E expedition such a success.
Despite the weather, muddy fields, aching bones and sore feet, my daughter absolutely loved it and I am so grateful to you all for making sure she got back safely.
Thank you.”
